Amanda "Tucker" Wright
Growing up in rural Texas as the oldest of three girls, Amanda knew she was weird from an early age. She would make elaborate mud cakes and then fiercely scrub her hands immediately afterward. She had a darling little tic her mother called "bunny nose." She had vivid nightmares about witches chasing her with axes and shadowy figures following her through funhouse mirror mazes. She became obsessed with "Alice in Wonderland" and "Wizard of Oz" and often retreated into her fairy tale world as a way of coping with a world that was often either too terrifying or too boring. This led to a love of drawing, writing poems and short stories, and organizing lip sync performances with her sisters.
Diagnosed in adulthood with Tourette Syndrome and autism, Amanda finally had the answers to all the riddles of her personality and chose to share her life with someone who was also neurodivergent. She is married to a stoic, rational software developer, and they are the proud parents of a young adult son with TS and autism who is a gold medalist swimmer in Special Olympics.
Amanda's art is inspired by children's books, fairy tales, and Disney princesses. Her dream is to one day live in the mountains and publish an illustrated fairy tale about neurodivergence. She hopes her colorful paintings make you smile, and that you live your dreams no matter what the world tells you.
